Jonathan spent 14 years in itinerant evangelism prior to taking the position as pastor at FBC. He and his wife Ellyn are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Their three adult children are Catherine, Josh and Lindsey. Catherine’s in Thailand, Josh is in Phoenix and Lindsey is in Denver.
Short-term evangelistic mission trips had a big impact on Bro. Jonathan and he has conducted numerous mission trips to Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela and Brazil, Argentina, Nicaragua and Chile. He has also made multiple trips into South Africa, Togo and China. While he’s been at Carrizo, the church has gone to Nicaragua, New York City, Peru, Zambia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama and Macedonia.
Jonathan has a bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and a Master of Arts from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. He served four Texas Baptist churches as a youth minister prior to entering full time evangelism. He has written numerous curricula for Lifeway Christian Resources and has conducted many Sunday School conferences for associations and for the state convention. Jonathan has served on the board of trustees for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth since 2019.
